Facebook proves there’s too much free speech, blacks out anti-royal wedding sites

Dozens of Facebook pages, including those run by student activists in London and across the United Kingdom were deactivated in the last 24 hours, prompting some of the students to wonder whether the mass suspension was intended to quash dissent during the Royal Wedding.

Because there’s too much free speech!

LAST WEEK, Adam Conner, a lobbyist for Facebook in Washington, had some chilling words for the Wall Street Journal about the company’s plans. “Maybe we will block content in some countries, but not others,” Mr. Conner said. “We are occasionally held in uncomfortable positions because now we’re allowing too much, maybe, free speech in countries that haven’t experienced it before.”
