The Texas Miracle: Dinosaurs, taxation and federal help

Come and take it:

But despite Rick’s tough talk about the federal government, he’s actually increased the presence of federal spending in the state budget… federal dollars now make up a larger portion of state revenue than they did when Rick took office:

That means the Texas miracle is producing half as much revenue growth as reliance on federal dollars. As a portion of the state’s total revenue, taxes actually decreased by 6 percentage points while federal dollars increased by 7 percentage points.

The DMN says all this adds up to Rick making Texas “less independent” than it was nine years ago when George Bush was governor:

That means Texas relies more on federal dollars and less on its own taxes than it did when Perry took office. Put another way: Texas is less independent than it was when the governor took office, not more.

Compare the 2009 revenue for the state of Texas with the 2000 revenue, and you’ll see something you might not expect from a state that is led by someone who is sypathetic to secessionists. Federal income has grown 108.53 percent since 2000, more than double the revenue growth of taxes (50 percent).

One must remember that Texans prolly don’t believe any of these “facts”, after all, 38% believe that man co-existed with Dinosaurs and another 30% aren’t sure.

And once the new Texas curriculum goes into effect, kids will see that Jesus was one of the founding fathers and personally warned Thomas Jefferson against the rising threat of taxation of the rich, sociaism and teh gheys.

What some see as a “cultural war,” McLeroy views as a focus on the basics, including a strong grammar section in reading, informing students about Christian religious influences on the Founding Fathers, and equipping children with the ability to think for themselves.

Can’t wait for that awesome Texas secession.
