The China quality syndrome

The story of how China uses the US as a design source and dumping  ground so they can maximize profits in poor countries:

Chinese manufacturers want business relationships with customers in these places — so much so that they’ll even sometimes sell to them below cost. But then they’ll turn around and

…sell knock-offs of their designs to Latin America and the Middle East, where intellectual-property protection is not so valued. This arbitrage game explains the curious fact that Chinese-made products are often more expensive in the developing world than in the U.S.A. That’s where the profits are made.

Horrible. How do they get away with this? One way is fake country of origin tags.

Add fake garments to the fake drugs with “Made in India” tags. And these are the new fuckers who are going to rule us all for the next 1000 years.

“Garments with fake ‘Made in India’ tags are being sold in Nigeria,” Textiles Secretary Rita Menon said.

Recently, Nigerian authorities confiscated a shipment of drugs, with “Made in India” labels, which were found to have originated in China.

“We are aware of the unfair and unjust practice,” Menon said.

“This is a serious matter. We have written to the commerce ministry and they will take it up through the diplomatic channels with the concerned governments (Nigeria and China),” she added.
